Applications are invited for the post of Research Software Developer within the MISTRAL programme, which is the second major EPSRC Programme Grant to be awarded to the UK Infrastructure Transitions Research Consortium (ITRC). The ITRC is a dynamic and innovative research team, with important links with government, industry and the international academic community. The ITRC has a strong sense of identity and is widely regarded for its innovative contributions in systems modelling, risk analysis and infrastructure policy. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the a very high profile project with the potential to have major impact, both in research terms and upon policy and practice in the UK and internationally.
We are seeking to recruit a skilled, hardworking and creative individual to help implement and integrate models for the simulation of national infrastructure systems. Simulation modelling may involve network analysis, flow simulation and/or agent-based modelling. Depending on skills and experience, the role may extend to the development of graphical user interfaces, visualisation and geospatial data analysis. The post holder will work closely with systems analysts and engineers from across the ITRC and be responsible for aspects of software design and implementation. That will involve programming to a high standard.
The successful candidate will hold a degree, or have equivalent experience, in a related discipline and demonstrate high level skills in programming and software implementation. You will be experienced in software design and implementation, including security, testing, version control and documentation. You will be a team worker with a commitment to delivering high quality software that meets the ambitious aims of the ITRC. This will require excellent organisational and communication skills.
This is a full-time post for 36 months.
