In November 2008, the SRA launched the “Pantheon of Risk Analysis” to recognize luminaries and visionaries in the field — the giants on whose shoulders we stand — and to illustrate how risk analysis contributes to the advance of knowledge and to the public good. The SRA Pantheon is devoted to celebrating deceased figures in the field of risk analysis; profiles of living members may be published in the journal Risk Analysis.
Each inductee’s name includes a link to information about the inductee. The year in parentheses indicates the year of induction. Some inductees are famous for many intellectual contributions, including their ideas on what has come to be known as risk analysis; others have been pioneers in developing particular concepts and methods essential to the field.
Any SRA member may nominate candidates for induction to the Pantheon. The SRA Past President then proposes a set of candidates for induction to the SRA Council, which votes on each candidate. For more information about the Pantheon and to nominate other legends in the field, please contact Jill Drupa.
SRA is considering whether to produce our own biographical sketches of each inductee and his or her contributions to risk analysis, or to contribute additions to the Wikipedia pages, or to develop other approaches to enrich the recognition of these past giants and the field of risk analysis. Your suggestions are welcome.
